The Richland Hills Christian Church family is delighted and excited to share with you that the Reverend Owen Chandler has accepted the call as Senior Pastor of this congregation. Owen and his wife, Emily, will relocate from Kentucky to Texas during the month of June and Owen will officially begin his ministry with our church on June 28, 2009.
Owen comes to RHCC from the First Christian Church in Richmond, Kentucky where he has served as Associate Minister. He has also served the First United Methodist Church in Crowley, Texas and the Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries in Los Fresnos, Texas. Owen graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington Kentucky, a Disciples university, with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 2002. He completed his Master of Divinity in 2006 from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth in 2006. Owen is married to Emily, a school teacher and native Texan. Emily graduated from Texas A & M University and Brite Divinity School.
Owen writes, “The church is the people, and people are the church. For each person we encounter, whether on the street or in the pew, the church must seek to spiritually empower this soul, so as to help create in that person an existence centered in the peace of God’s steadfast love and presence.” The members of RHCC eagerly await the arrival of Owen and Emily to our community of faith and the opportunity to serve the Lord with Owen as the Senior Pastor of our congregation.
